First Day of School - Frequently Asked Questions

We are so excited to welcome our Dolphins back to our brand new campus! Please read on for some common questions and their answers.

Q: What time can my student arrive on Monday?

A: People may begin entering the building at 7:30 am. Class starts at 8am.

Q: Can I walk my student in on the first day?

A: Yes! Parents may park and walk their students to their classrooms on the first day of school. All parents will need to be out of the building no later than 8:15 am on Monday.

Q: Where do I park to walk my child in?

A: Parents may park in any of the green zones indicated on the Arrival Carpool Map. There is absolutely NO PARKING in the teacher parking lot or along either of the circle drives at any time, including on the first day of school. Golf carts ONLY may park in the circle drive on Sonnet (marked for bus traffic on the map).

Q: Where do students and/or parents enter the school on the first day?

A: Everyone will enter the school from the main entrance facing Flair Drive (see the Arrival Carpool Map for more detail). Please use the door to the left that leads into the Cafeteria. Unlike last school year, there will be no carpool or entering the building at the side entrance on Sonnet.

Q: Will the Cheers & Tears event still happen after the bell on Monday?

A: No, we will not be having our usual Cheers & Tears event this year. With everyone focused on getting the campus ready and getting our Dolphins settled in the new building, we decided not to have it.

Q: Where can I find out my child's teacher?

A: You should hear from your child's teacher before Monday morning, but if for some reason they have been unable to reach you, we will have volunteers available at the front entrance Monday morning to help you find your child's teacher and classroom.

If you have not heard from your teacher by Saturday evening, check your Spam folder in your email. If you still cannot locate any communication from them, you can email communications@degolyerpta.org and we will do our best to get you that information.

Please DO NOT call the school before Monday for class assignments or PowerSchool logins.

Q: Where is my child's classroom?

A: We will also have volunteers in the building Monday morning to help people find classrooms.

Q: When/where can I get a clear backpack?

A: There will be a table near the front entrance to pick up clear backpacks if your student needs one.

Q: Where do I pick up my school supplies order?

A: If you ordered school supplies through the PTA, they are already in your child's classroom ready to go!

Q: Where can I get my SWAG order?

A: SWAG orders will be delivered to classrooms during the first week of school. If you need it before then, please send an email to SWAG@degolyerpta.org and they can help you coordinate a pick up.

Q: Where can I find the school supplies list to buy my own school supplies?

A: If you were unable or chose not to order supplies through the PTA, you can find the lists here. Please send your child's supplies with them in their backpack during the first week of school.

Q: How do I contact my child's teacher?

A: Teachers will be reaching out to families this week and inviting you to join classroom BANDs. Please keep an eye on your text messages and emails for these invitations and join when you receive them. Check SPAM folders! Teachers will use BAND to share information and can be messaged individually on the platform.

Q: Will everything be ready for the first day of school?
A: The construction team's latest update is that the kitchen/cafeteria, playground, driveways and sidewalks, classrooms and common spaces will be ready! The only thing we know will not be ready for the first week is the gym, as they are still completing the floor in there.

Q: Where do I pick my child up at the end of school?

A: All students will enter and be dismissed from the main entrance on Flair. You can see the carpool map for dismissal here. If you park and walk up to pick up your child, they will be waiting for you outside of the Cafeteria in the zone indicated on the dismissal map.
